I want to be among the first batch of people to get my primary app submitted. I talked to an adcom at my school today and he said you can submit mid June and you will still be early because med schools typically don't start looking at primaries until July. He also said they are all together and aren't in chronological order upon submission. How late in June can you submit the application and still be among the earliest to submit?

Based on 5 year trends of when people are googling “Amcas” it seems about 15% of applicants submit within the first 3 days, another 25% before the middle of June, another 30% by the end of June, another 20% over July, and the final 10% submit primary after August. So to be “early” by the numbers, ie. First quarter of applicants, before mid June. But to be early in terms of getting secondaries in before Labor Day? You want before end of June.

Note* My Methodology was just finding the fractional area under the curve by time period looking at google trends for ‘AMCAS’ so this is by no means precise but can at least if a rough idea.

However, OP, stop thinking in terms of ‘when is the latest that I can....’ get in to the mindset of ‘How early can I comfortably complete this?’

Started on my personal statement this week. I ask because I don’t want to rush through it and was wondering if mid June is fine. Doubt I submit the first day.

Don’t be neurotic about it. Make sure your personal statement is the best is can be before submitting your primary app. A week or 2 will not be the death of your cycle. A sh**ty PS will be tho
