I made the mistake last time of waiting for my scores to BEGIN AMCAS. Don't do this. Fill out AMCAS and have all your LOR's lined up so that once you get your MCAT scores, you'll be all set to begin your secondaries.

I waited til October for my scores and I was interviewing in mid February when 90% of the class was already filled. Royal suckage.

*edit* didn't realize you said "secondaries." october secondaries aren't TOO bad!

you should receive your scores around October 15th. DO NOT wait until you receive your scores to fill out AMCAS. In fact, you can submit your AMCAS application before you get your scores, and once AMCAS receives your scores they will begin the verification process.

I didn't submit my application until end of October b/c I was waiting for my scores and then I interviewed in Jan. and Feb. which I htink totally hurt me. The best advice I can give you is apply as early as possible, becuase the classes start to fill up starting September.

Last year it took 8 (agonizing) weeks to get scores back, so mid-October is a good estimate. If you submit the AMCAS application when it first becomes available (or soon thereafter), you will receive most of the secondaries over the summer. You should submit all of your secondaries and recommendations over the summer and early fall so that your application is complete once your scores arrive. It is nerve-wracking to pay so much money for secondary applications without knowing your MCAT score, but this is definitely the way to go if you want to be interview mid-cycle.
