For those of you who have already gone through this process, what time of day did you hear from programs on 1/15?

I've heard one story of a resident who was called by the PD on the evening of 1/14.

When did you hear?

7:45 am - I happened to be in the shower and had to jump out to answer my cell phone.

When did you hear?

around 1030am central time on match day

The program coordinator called me before 7 am on match day, and she said she got the results the night before.

GL

Our Associate Dean called me about 6:30 that morning, and then the PD of where I matched called about 7 or 7:30.

When do you find out if you didn't match? Is it before the actual date?

If I'm not mistaken, an email is sent to those candidates the morning of the match.

Additionally, your dean's office should have a list of the matches/non-matches...however when I matched, the SF Match's fax machine was out that night and nobody heard from their Dean's office because they didnt have the results (fortunately programs were emailed the match results from what I hear...but this is word of mouth 🙂)

they day before, i think you get an email that says "congratulations you have matched." i could be mistaken...

your dean should have the info early in the morning, so you can either call your dean, or your dean may call you since it's not that many people to call for the ophtho match at any particular school. your new PD will call you sometime during the day, I heard at 3pm which was pretty late.

I actually ended up calling SFMatch because I couldn't wait, since there was a delay in notification last year due to fax machine malfunctions, and they gave me the good news.

Best of luck.

Last year, if you did not match, you got an email the day before match day letting you know that you did not match.
If you did match, you got no correspondence the day before match day.
I found out via a phone call from my program director around 1 pm on match day. (It was a long wait for me!)

Good luck!

i think it was a long wait for most last year. something about fax machines in San Francisco not working. our dean usually comes into the office with a fax waiting for them. last year it didn't come in until late morning. yet another reason to love the joys of using sf match.

ahh yes, that is how it worked. you got an email if you DIDN'T match. i was confused...

best of luck you all, SDN browsers have a great track record of matching...

Got the call from my PD around 11am. Longest wait of my life!

But so worth it..😍

I waited until noon with no news before I caved in and called my med school office of student affairs. They told me I matched and where. It wasn't until 5pm that day that I heard from the program. I was glad I didn't sweat it out all day.

has anyone heard any confirmation that this year an email would be sent out to those who did not match the night before?

36 hours!!! :scared:

Ativan 2mg PO HS PRN pre-match :scared:😕:scared:

Disclaimer: this is meant as a joke and I am not really advocating self prescribing meds or using benzo's 🙂

Why didn't I think of benzo's, I've been relying on my good old friend ETOH.

Is the email sent from the dean's office or from SF-Match?

SF match will notify your deans office of any unmatched applicants tomorrow evening, at which point it is the responsibility of the dean's office to contact you (be that via email or phone)

But the dean's office probably won't be open then...
