I know each person is different and needs to take the DAT when he/she is ready. But I was curious, when during your undergrad studies did you take the DAT for the first time?

Currently I'm a sophomore. Taking Chem 2 at the moment, and I will be taking Organic next semester. Also I've taken Plant and Animal Bio and probably Micro next semester. Are there more courses I need to prepare me? Along side studying of course. I suppose I better get physics done too

You should either take anatomy and physiology or buy Examkracker's Biology review for the MCAT, because there's a lot of physiology in the bio section. I took the DAT after retaking all the pre-reqs and taking A&P, genetics, micro, and biochem. Of course, I didn't take all those just for the DAT. 😉

undergraduate bio, chemistry, and organic chemistry really should be enough. but, any of the upper level classes can only help you during the exam. the DAT is usually taken around the spring/summer semester of a student's sophomore year, into the beginning of their junior year. this leaves the spring semester of the junior year for retake (if need be). that follows up with filling out the application at the end of junior year, and interviews (hopefully) during fall semester of senior year.

I took mine right after I finished organic chem, which was the last of the required (general chem, ochem, bio). I thought it was a good time to do it...

I took it July 19th. I had finished Bio 1&2, Gen Chem 1&2 and O-Chem 1&2. I had taken physiology a while earlier as well and that certainly is helpful.
