I am finishing my junior year of college this year (Bio major/Predental). It wasnt until this semster that I 100% for sure decided that I wanted to go to dental school. I completed all of the predental prereqs and am finishing up my bio electives next year (my senior year). I want to apply to dental school asap, I really dont want to take a year off if I dont have to. I know I have to take the DATs this summer to apply for the next cycle but I dont feel ready and want to study more....so my question is when is the latest possible date I can take the DAT without it looking bad to dental schools for the next available cycle of applicants?

Honestly, you need to take the DAT ASAP. You should be able to study for a month and do well, so I would schedule your DAT for early July or maybe Mid June if you want to get it over with and still be early for the most part. Taking it in August is really going to push you back.

Honestly, I don't think You should be in a rush to apply to dental school. If you found out now that Dentistry is what you want to do.. I think you should Honestly take the year off to perhaps observe/shadow a few dentists, and Study for the DAT. While it might take some people 3 weeks to study for the DAT... others take a couple of months.. So I think you should decide on applying this summer depending on your knowledge and your experience in the dental field, research, volunteering, etc..
