when do secondaries come in?

Real quick question not answered by cursory search.

When do secondaries usually come in at the earliest? I'm planning on submitting AMCAS today and based on last years verification this should put me in line to be verified by the magical 29th date. I want to know when I should shoot for being prepared with all my pre-writing.

I know they come in based on each school, but what's the general range assuming I'm verified by the 29th?

That depends on the school, but usually they start coming in ~July 1st. Some schools are sooner, but most are after July 1st. Some aren't until Sept... Either way, the sooner your primary app is in, the better, and the sooner your secondaries are in the better

As said, it is very dependent on the school ... some you'll get even before you're verified by AMCAS (I remember getting one from GWU the morning after I submitted). Most will come in within 1-2 weeks of your verification date, and then for the next few after. Usually, the school-specific forums are good about posting the prompts, so you can always go off of those even if you haven't officially received yours yet. The rule of thumb is to a 2 week turnaround time, but depending on the number of schools you've applied to, you'll figure out quickly that it's really hard to stick to this ... try and get your highest choice schools in asap, and everything as soon as possible
