When do the new editions of FA and goljan RR come out?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't think a new edition of RR Path comes out every year.

hmm...I'm planning to use FA+RR along with my class to get familiar with it/annotate on it, but should I just wait til the new version or should I get the current version now?
When did you guys buy your FA?

If you plan on annotating your First Aid during pathology then plan on getting a new one for studying for the boards. Your annotations during second year will be largely useless for Step 1. If you want to read along in FA and RR I think that's a great idea though. I don't think you'll need the new FA for when you sit down to specifically study for Step 1.

Agree with Guile. Annotating first aid throughout coursework is highly overrated. (Although I also think it's near useless to read first aid to study for class--rr path on the other hand was invaluable). Now, as I'm studying for boards, I come across some of the stuff I wrote down during the year and just have to laugh and wonder why I ever thought that was important.

So i'll be an M1 at SIU next year. It is mostly PBL, so I want to review with Step1 books. You guys are suggesting to go with Rapid Review and First Aid right? Or are there better books out there to go with first and second year material?

EXACTLY. Things that you're professors emphasize and what you think is important largely turn out to be useless for Step 1 studying. FA stands on its own. The only value of going through FA while in pharm and path is that it will show you what is important for the boards. So then when you're going through it for boards studying it will all look familiar.

Also agree about RR Path for second year. Invaluable.

I have the same reaction to some of the garbage I annotated into FA from Kaplan QBank a few months ago. Or at least I think it's garbage. Maybe it'll be on my exam, who knows.

I would talk to MSII's at SIU to get a better idea what to do next year. First Aid is ok but not near as dense as what is required for numerous courses. And RR is more for MSII courses (unless your course covers path during MSI which is rare)... I found that BRS Anatomy and Physiology were great for overall and to go with notes. Biochem I used Pelley's review book because he taught our course. Do what works for you but consult students who have been through your schools curriculum.
