Someone in another thread said that Mayo might not tell people till May 15. I thought all med schools had to tell their applicants where they stand (i.e. waitlist/reject/accept) by April 15!

In the Association of American Medical Colleges Guidelines it states that "each school of medicine should prepare and distribute to applicants and college advisors a detailed schedule of its application and acceptance procedures and should adhere to this schedule unledd it is publicly amended."

So, in a nutshell schools only need to abide by their defined dates of notification and acceptance. Some schools give you the dates and are very forthright, but at others you have to search the most remote corners of their websites to find the info.

If you are looking specifically for Mayo's deadline I have no idea 'cause I didn't apply there-sorry.

you might want to pm mpp (he's a mayo student), cause that just doesnt sound cool. according to aamc we have to pick a school on may 15th and withdraw our other acceptances.

😕

by may 15 you have to limit yourself to one school. but you can choose another school past that time. you just can't hold two acceptances at once. (still have a grace period of 2 weeks i'd assume, for you to accept or decline the new acceptance)

edit: i thought DW was asking a question but now i re-read it and i don't think so anymore

The 2 week grace period rapidly diminishes as time progresses past May 15th. One school told me that if its one month before classes begin and they telephone you with an offer they will not leave a message - if you don't pick up they call someone else, and if they *do* get you either you accept before the end of the phone call or they withdraw the offer and call the next person on the list...it varies from school to school, but all have so far told me that grace period is less and less as time goes on. 😉

oh my god that's scary. Sounds like we'll be carrying the cell phone in the shower all summer. Rawk.
