When do we start applying for jobs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In non-retail setting, I would say apply once you take your licensing exam and find out you passed and just waiting for the actual license (It can very from state to state, but generally you wait 1-4 weeks). I applied really early when I was graduating, and the response was always we are looking to hire someone right away, and a lot of employers don't want to hire someone and then wait 2-3 months if s/he failed the NAPLEX or because they never took it yet.

If you aren't a P4 yet, I would suggest trying to get as many rotations as you can in places you'd like to work. You then have the advantage of seeing the workplace firsthand and also getting the inside scoop on the hiring. Then work really hard and hint really hard that you'd like to be an employee someday. I received 3 job offers my P4 year while on rotations. Hope this helps.
