I'm HOPING for an interview, and I guess no news is good news, right? But I'm wondering when they let vet school applicants know they are not interviewing this year (and should start seriously looking for something awesome to beef up their application for next time). I feel bad asking for people's painful stories, but maybe you know a friend who knows the story? Thanks-

I think it depends on the school...Some schools send out all their rejections at once at the end of the season, others send them out group by group. Other fun ones don't send you a letter at all, you just log onto a website and it says "No way in hell" 🙁

For instance, Colorado already rejected me, and a lot of others, for this year.
If I recall correctly, last year I didn't hear from Cornell until Jan
VMRCVM came after that one. I think Michigan came relatively early, and I never recieved their supplemental.

My memory of last season is a little fuzzy though! Feels like it was ages ago.

Like it was said, I was already rejected from two but Ive been accepted to one and running with that. It really depends on your school. Its pretty competitive this year though. (when is it not?) I kinda like watching the race.

More competitive than previous years?

Wait.. you guys already heard back from Vet schools?! The app deadline was only 2 months ago!! Do you really hear back that quickly? Jeez...

Jeez, lots of new people on the boards the past few days! (Not a dig, just an observation!)
Several schools have sent out interview invites, but I think the only ones that have accepted thus far are the foreign schools (correct me if I'm wrong). Some of us will still be waiting for a few months though: see Am I alone? thread 😀

Haha oh okay.. so only foreign schools are sending out letter thus far. I was thinking if I only have to wait 2 months for a reply.. I may be able to save a few grey hairs :xf:

I'm sure you realized this already but I thought I'd put in my two cents...

Even if you get an interview, you want to show them you are 'advancing' and not just sitting stagnant while waiting to hear from vet schools. UC Davis in particular asked what I had been doing since I applied. I'm glad I had something to tell them! They were very intimidating and I don't think my answer could have been any better if I had said 'solving world peace'. Personally, I worked at a small animal/emergency hospital, worked on my senior thesis (required for my undergrad), and delved into the world of embryology. And continued towards graduating my undergrad.

If you are waitlisted, you may not hear acceptances until late spring, summer or fall! So just work on beefing up your app now.

To answer your actual question, I know I have a spreadsheet of all the dates that I got info from different schools... but I have to find it. I'll get back to you on that!

So rejection letters are already starting? Ugh. I was just starting to get excited to see Kansas sending out the interview invites (still hoping for one from them.....:scared:

To be exact, Cornell sent out ALL admission/rejection letters via their admissions portal on January 12th last year, so that's coming right up...

This is when I got rejection letters
- Colorado State Univ - Jan 21 via letter
- Mississippi State Univ - Dec 29 via e-mail
- VA-MD - Dec 3 via letter
- Washington State - Jan 12 via letter
- UPenn - March 13 via e-mail

I am a CA resident and didn't get the opportunity to interview at any of these schools. Hope this gives you an idea of the time line for last year...
