I was wondering what the average turn-around time is for dispersement of financial aid from your respective school?

I just got my financial aid (minus tuition) from my school a few days ago even though it was dispersed by the gov't on Jan 4th.

Granted that there is some delay to process the check and deduct tuition fees by the school, it shouldn't take more than a week. In the meantime, I was desperately waiting for my check to come in so I could pay my credit card bills that I incurred during my interviews.

Unless someone can tell me otherwise, I can only suspect that the school was holding onto it longer to gather interest from money that "I" borrowed. Holding onto a check worth ~$11k for each 200+ students + interests = $$$

It is up to your school. I recieved mine the first week of January.

See if you can make a suggestion to your financial aid office to bill 4th years earlier and hence get the checks earlier. I received my check on December 14 (all previous years it was the first or second week in January).
