I know this is a question that's kind of out-of-it. But what is your sleep schedule usually like in a regular semester and how many hours do you usually sleep for??

Personally, I get like 5-6 on weekdays and sleep a lot on weekends to make up for it.

What about you guys?? I'm just asking out of curiosity
I think the people who get the most sleep problems are probably the Medical students who are overloaded with everything, or Premeds who are studying for a big exam

Last semester I slept at 2-3AM and woke up around 8AM (mandatory attendance classes everyday at 9 -___-)

I also took a nap after class haha

Sleep at 2 am wake up around noon, skipped most morning classes.

Go to bed around 12-1 AM and wake up around 8:00 AM on weekdays.

I wake up anywhere from 11:00-2 PM on weekends and I have no idea when I go to bed, it varies

lol, this thread reminds me of finals for my first semester of med school.

During the semester, I would go to bed around 2 AM and wake up at 7 or 8 AM (depending on if I wanted to attend the first morning lecture).

However, when it came time for finals, it quickly turned into going to bed anytime from 3 to 5 AM and waking up at 7 AM for an 8 AM final. I feel asleep on the couch so much in those 2 weeks that even after finals were over I found myself staying up extremely late and sleeping on the couch. It became the norm for me during those two weeks. My girlfriend hated it, but it took me a good week before going to bed in my own bed felt normal again.

Wow, that's pretty intense. Does lack of sleep not effect your memory?

 Funny that this thread shows up at 1:30 in the morning.

On weekdays, I make it a point to be in bed by midnight (unless I have something due), and I try to get up by 7 so that I can go to the free fitness classes at my university's gym. On weekends, I usually work the morning shift starting at 7am, so I'm up by 6am. I used to be horrible at getting up in the mornings ( I started a thread about it ~6mos ago) but have since gotten better, and making myself sign up for morning shifts on weekends ensures that I don't fall out of line with my schedule and that I actually wake up. On days where I don't have classes and don't have work (like now) ........ yeah I'm still awake and I highly doubt I'll be up before noon 😳

I sleep so much more in college than I did in high school. In my first semester, I only pulled an all-nighter once... 😕 Once it hits one, I usually decide to go to sleep and wake up a bit earlier to finish up homework.

Of course, now that it's winter break I've almost become nocturnal, staying up until 5 AM and sleeping until noon 🙄

During break, I stay up 'till the moon goes down. But during the school year, it's usually around 2AM.

At least for the past year, sleep between 9:30 and 10:30, get up between 6 and 8.

I don't usually go to bed before midnight and the latest I get up is 9. Some mornings I get up as early as 5 for work though, so I'd say I range anywhere from 8 hours of sleep to 4 or 5 hrs. My average is probably about 6.

I try to be in bed by 10pm. Sometimes I'm on my itouch & i don't actually fall asleep till maybe 11. But... Im one week shy of being 8 months pregnant & sleep has been a problem the last few days. Ive been going to sleep after 12 & up very early.

I wake up everyday (including weekends) at 5am (unless I went out the night before or I am still awake). This is regardless of what time I went to bed.

I work, so my sleep schedule is all over the place. Another reason I can't wait to start school.

Sleep around 12 to 1AM, wake up 5:30 to 6:30ish, depends on what classes I have going on. Weekends I'm not usually sure of what time I go to bed since alcohol may be involved 🙄, but I find that I wake up no later than 9:30, 10ish. If I need to study or have lots of work I try to wake up as on a weekday.

I'm not capable of sleeping in any more..

10 - 8 works for me because I don't want to mess up my rhythm.

I sleep more in med school than I did in college. I pretty much go to sleep by 1:30-2 and skip the early morning classes unless they're mandatory PBL/TBL/workshops. I usually get 6-8 hours of sleep, depending on when I have to be at school. Podcasting is a godsend.

It depends, mostly no because I am a night owl, and I just took a nap right after a final to catch up before hitting the books again. I concentrated most of my studying on two classes I was weaker in and got As on those finals. Regardless of sleep, you do what you have to do. Life finds a way.

It varied a lot last semester. Depending on my work load and mental state, I went to bed anywhere from 2AM to 4AM...some days 5AM. Woke up at 7:30AM on the day I had an early morning class, and 8:30AM all other weekdays. Weekends I'd wake up around noon.

During finals I went completely nocturnal.

I got a screwed up sleep schedule....

In bed somewhere between 9:30-10:30pm, wake up at 4am.

I work a paper route, takes about 2 hours. This'll be my last summer doing it though, as I'm currently a CPhT in training, so I'm going to use that to pay for school.

Do you just wake up whenever you want and start self study shortly after that? I am not really a morning person and can definitely see myself skipping AM lectures in med school. Obviously I still want to make sure this is possible while getting my stuff done. On non test weeks, do you just wake up and spend a few hours at the library each day, then go home in the evening?

Break/weekend: Bed 1-2 am, up 10-11 am.
During week: Bed 12-2 am, up 8-9 am

I'm not a morning person, but I do what I can to be awake for AM classes.

11-1AM -> 8:30-9:30AM wakeup weekdays
1AM-4AM -> whenever I feel like it unless I have an event in the morning weekends

I'm a 2nd semester senior. Haven't pulled any all nighters because I think they're the biggest waste of time ever. Kudos to those peers of mine that manage to do well in school banking on staying up and cramming the night before though.

Sleep at 2 am. Awake by 7 am.

I also take a 1 hour nap at 4pm.

Usually sleep aroun 2am and wake up around 6am so I can get to the gym before my 8am classes -_-

My room mate on the other hand is weird. Sleeps at 730am gets up at 8am. He thinks he needs to study for 22 hours a day in order to do well in school. Except half of the time he just falls asleep on his books. Very inefficient lol.

Also very unhealthy.

Yeah basically, except I like to study at night (dinner-midnight) because that's when my mind works best. If your school records lectures and doesn't have many required morning sessions, you'll definitely be able to function and figure out a schedule that works well for you.

How is your roommate still alive? Seriously. Not getting REM sleep day after day is life-threatening.

School days I am normally in bed by 1 or 2 and wake up at 6:15. On weekends and days off I normally go to bed at 4am and wake up around 2-3 pm! I'm a night person forced to be a day person.

Like I said, he falls asleep for 1-2 hours while "studying" at like 4am so I'm sure he gets some kind of sleep...

I don't know how some you guys do it! I'm absolutely useless without a good amount of sleep. I usually go to bed between 11:30-12 and get up around 8-8:30 on the weekdays and sleep in until 9:30-10 on weekends. I can function for a day or two with a few hours of sleep. I know I'll have to get used to it third year but I don't plan on getting less than 8 hours during the pre-clinical years.

Sleep? Ha! How can I expect to get into medical school if I waste precious time sleeping?

Good luck with that!

On a school night, I go to bed around 10:00pm, and wake up at 5:30am. I always start my day with some kind of run or other cardio to wake me up.

I average 6 hours of sleep a night in med school on the weekdays. Unfortunate that the required pbl stuff is at 8am

I guess I'm kind of a slob. I do 2-3 am and 9-10 am (Didn't go so well for my 8:30...but thankfully it was recorded). I'm working on it though! Aiming for Midnight once the new semester starts.

Sleep 11-12 pm and up at 5 am everyday. I get my best work done in the morning

Right now (winter break), sleep around 6AM, and wake up whenever. During the semester, bed around 1AM, wake up for 9AM class.

I never realized how important it is to have a regular sleep schedule until I started working where I am now. I normally don't fall asleep until 4am, so I wake up around 11am or 12pm. It makes waking up early one of the biggest challenges ever.

Is it sad to say that I want school to start soon so that way I can balance my sleep better? It felt so organized during UG!
