Hello,

I'd like to submit my AMCAS on the early side, but I wondered what is the approx. date that's considered borderline early. For instance, if I get AMCAS in by July 4, is that still early--what about all through July?

I need all the help I can get.

Thanks,

T

In my opinion "late" AMCAS submission would be anytime after September. June-July would be on the early/on par. August--ok.

Since most interviews are from October-January, you just need to make sure you're complete early enough to have your application go through a majority of the possible reviews. The earlier your app, the more reviews and more chances to get an interview.

What will you be waiting for? Your PS (and short descriptions of your EC's) is 99% of the work. The rest is just tedious data entry which takes a day or so.

Also, if you're still in school, it's really nice to get your 2nd's done before school starts. Most come in 1-2 months after submission. Some wait til after verification to send 2nd's.

august-november= late, imho

IMHO, June-July is an early submission. Here is how the process worked for me last year:

I waited until late June to get my MCAT score to decide on how many schools I would apply to. After waiting about one week to finalize my app, I submitted my application around July 1st or so. B/c AMCAS didn't start transmitting applications until July 17, my application ended up getting transmitted around the same time as the REAL early birds who submitted their stuff in early June. If I recall correctly, my application was transmitted to all schools around July 20th or so. I finished all of my secondaries by early-mid August and I received my first interview invite on August 26.

So, if you want to get into that group of early interviews in September, I would shoot for late June/early July as a target date for getting your application out.

I submitted mine last year on July 16th. I was invited for 6 interviews but they didnt start until January 26th. By then, a lot of the other applicants I met were on their 5th or 6th interview while I was on my first. Just try to get AMCAS in as soon as you can, it will DEFINITELY help. If only by making the process a bit less stressful by getting you early interviews.

definitely. i am a reapplicant; learned my lesson about applying early. I'm sending it in the first few days(i'm applying edp) and want my interview(if i get it) asap.

I didn't get my application in until late August. I finished secondaries around October. My first interview was late January, followed by interviews in late March and April. I was also an August MCATer. I didn't get my first acceptance until about 3 weeks ago. If I could do it over again, there is NO WAY I would apply an later than mid-June. It's not worth the stress of being strung out for so long...
