Hey,
When do students usually start looking/contractually signing up for housing? Are apartments even available now because I have tried with some places in Cleveland and Richmond and they have been pretty keen on saying to contact them at a later time.
Any thoughts?

I am not going to start looking until march or so.
thats what I did for grad school

My first thought would be "when it starts raining!".

Seriously, you should try to sign a lease during the month that your graduation will be, or the month that ends your school year. That way you won't have a lease hanging out there after you're ready to move on to a specialty school or to another city. If you come in later in the year (say August), try to go back to the rental office and renew your lease early (around May) to fix the difference.
