When does the avg applicant submit app?

I'm considering ED, but I'm concerned about the month & half or so of time lost for applying to my "rolling"schools in the case that I am not admitted to the ED school.

Will submitting my app at September-end be a huge setback to my chances for acceptance? (it will already have been processed from ED cycle)
When do people typically submit their PTCAS apps??

In the 2013-2014 cycle there were roughly 17,000 applicants who finished and sent their apps. That number has certainly risen. I don't know the average submit date, but it's fair to say there's a wide distribution🙂. Don't worry about the average and focus on yourself.

Submitting toward the end of September is fine, although that certainly takes you out the running for early decision. Most ED deadlines are August 17ish. Search this forum for more advice on the matter. Early decision can be a gamble, and everyone's situation is unique so use your best judgement.
