does anyone have experience with this in past years? from the official movement threads of the last 2 years, it seems a lot would have started already. so do things happen on may 15? june 1? is this year different? whats the deal?

ok, so im not really as panicked as all of that sounds, but im definitely getting a little anxious. thank you.

I think there is some movement, but it's hard to get an accurate comparison since the waitlist assistance thread is no longer stickied, so very few people post on it.

I really think the majority will occur between about Friday of this week and like June 10th or so. I'm just pulling this out of my ass.

whast special about fri?

I'm just giving the admissions staff a week or so to "return from Lunch"
Hey we gotta hold a more positive image of admission staff 😉 They're spending countless hours calling people on the acceptance list up urging them to make up their minds, then they'll let the WL people in.

already have seen the low carb pasta...and spaghetti sauce...and bread...

But not RICE and POTATOES though, right? 😉

Guys,
People do get off waitlist purgatory. Someone told me that waitlists = rejections. I totally disagree. It depends on the school. State schools do not have that much movement. Private schools (except really good ones) typically have more movement. I got in off the waitlist. There is hope. I know that waiting is torture but just be patient. Most waitlist movement occurs at the end of May and beginning of June. If you are religious, go pray. It helps. :luck: :luck: :luck:

I agree that patience is a virtue in this instance. It is admittedly difficult for people like myself who are waitlisted at their absolute "dream school" and who are going to be relegated to going to Finch and living in cold-assed chicago if they drown in the "acceptable pool" at UCSD. God I want to stay in California!!! I also feel the pain of people who would have to start their backup school a whole month before school starts at their waitlist school. Basically, you're screwed in this situation if you don't hear from the waitlist by the time you have to start. That's not even taking into consideration having to move half-way across the country...how irritating. But to look on the bright side at least I'm going to medical school right? So I should feel lucky...(but I really don't!! I want to go to UCSD!!!).

I know exactly how you feel. :scared: I would give a kidney to stay in CA.

LvlyBlk-I know what you mean also. btw-chicago isn't too bad 😉

Im sure UCLA would take your kidney to add to the rest of its cadavar program 🙂

Yeah I hear Chi-town is actually fun but I've grown so attached to California and I absolutely fell in love with UCSD despite the rumors! Well...I guess I'll be kickin it with R. Kelly (actually I guess I'm a little to old for him...sorry that was a low blow  ) and Kanye West if I don't hear from San Diego ASAP!!

I like CHicago when I visited it twice--Last September and this past January. But neither time was it snowing like crazy. Still it's a good change from California (Don't people just get sick of the hot sun? I do)

Actually no Cal, 🙂 I can't get enough of the sun...it keeps my skin looking a lovely caramel brown. When I visited Finch it was -10 degrees outside (I'm dead serious) and I felt the cold in my bone marrow. Other than that Chicago kind of reminded me of New York (where I'm a originally from). Of course anyone who has ever been to Finch knows that it's in the boonies so I will just have to spend my days and nights studying (if I actually wind up going there). Anyway to keep in the spirit of the thread, I think that a lot of movement will start to happen next week to allow for ADCom's to meet to discuss the waitlists post-May 15th. Or do they actually bother to do that? That seems like a lot of work for them to do...

I don't know if things are moving more slowly this year, a school where I'm waitlisted said it's been much slower than usual, and they are baffled by it. Unless, maybe students are waiting for financial aid info to compare schools before choosing?
