When does the new KAPLAN USMLE set come out each year?

When do the new editions of Kaplan review books come out each year and is it good enough to get the previous year's edition?

I'm not sure of the exact date that new editions come out. Comparing the previous edition to the edition I have, they are practically identical. For financial reasons, I would have gone with the older edition but I just couldn't find one at the time.
