when does the school give u the first check?

hello ,I would like to know when does the school give u the first check and how often they do it ,i mean monthly ,every 6 month etc.because i was planning to move out close to the school (nyu )but i dont have enough funds rigth now and I have to wait for the school to give me the money.i filled out my fafsa early january.

It's normally the first week of classes. So June/July/August or whenever you start. They won't give it to you before that in most cases. You will then get a disbursement in January. So twice a year.

Try to borrow a bit of money from family or something. They will know you would be good for it. Also, use credit cards and pay them when you get your disbursement. (Just make sure you will have the money in time before the due date.) That should give you 1.5-2 months extra by just using a credit card.

thank u a lot that s a great help ,u re rigth I could use my credit in the mean time they give me the money and pay after that.
