When is an appropriate time to contact schools and check to make sure they have everything they need from you? 3/4 schools I applied to haven't contacted me, but I know it is still very early. I've just heard some horror stories of people calling after hearing nothing for a while and realizing that for some reason, the school was missing one of their rec letters from AADSAS or something similar.

I feel like if it was later in the cycle, it would probably be fine to call quite soon after your application was mailed out. I bet they are experiencing a deluge of applications right now, though, so I don't want to bother anyone! Would you say give it to mid-July if I haven't heard anything, or wait even longer?

Thanks, all! 😀

Hey Glimmer!

If you want to make sure they have everything, just send them an email to the one they have listed on the supplemental materials list on aadsas. Just make sure you list your aadsas id and they usually write back super fast.

One school like VCU told me to contact them around mid-July when they have everything sorted but it's better to ask now then find out a month from now that something is missing 🙂

I would just call and ask. If you think they should have everything by now, including if you had to mail in anything, it will be easy for them to check. It only takes them a second to pull it up and if you are missing something, better to find out now than after they look at a pile of applications and yours was set aside because of some little thing.

I called a few schools end of last week and confirmed a few things and they were really cool about it.

For Case, since we do everything early, send us an email. You should already have some confirmation on your AADSAS portal (your application was mailed) and some record verifying processing your supplemental fee (we give you a confirmation number). You can scan and email attach us your DAT unofficial transcript or an FAP confirmation letter as well. Email is MUCH easier than phone calls.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I went ahead and e-mailed UNC and UoP (I know to wait on ECU).

Update: Here's what I received in response from UoP...

"Thank you for your interest in University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. For answers to your questions, we recommend you call our office of admissions at 415.929.6491, for a more personal and efficient response. NOTE: We do not respond to questions through this e-mail address. To have your questions answered, we highly recommend you call the admissions office at the number above. If you have any changes or updates to your application, we will add it to your file. Please allow 5 business days for the update to reflect on your application. Best wishes with your application to dental school. "

Just thought this might help someone else out. They want phone calls! 🙂

I think mid-July like you said is fair. Right now I think it's too early. But definitely do it before August because rectifying an issue may take a while (as most of you already know, the application process is quite slow) 🙂
