When is it too early to start looking for a job?

Med school is too early. If you are a resident with big financial needs, there are some companies that will hire you years our and provide you a stipend. I think its a terrible idea for most people because they have completely hostage then but if you had to support a family or something it could be reasonable. You can realistically look to sign on to more undesirable places up to 2 years out, and 1 year out is certainly reasonable even in big cities. Im in a large metro and started my look 12 months prior to graduation and was very glad I did so.
 
I agree that med school is too early. In residency, it never hurts to start inquiring about jobs early on.
