I want to go into the optometry field, but not sure if its too late to apply. My gpa is 3.0. If I take the oats by end of September and get a 350+ in the OATs, what are my chances of getting into schools in the east side?

You got a good chance for two of the northeast schools minus salus. possibly nova depending on how will your extra curriculars where and how you hold up in the interview.

How long have you been preparing for the OAT? It'll probably be difficult to do really well if you plan to take it at the end of September and you just started preparing

There is no sure answer to this question. Typically any time through September/October is probably considered fairly early. Your best available option is to call the schools you are interested in attending, and ask them. Your question is exactly like the hundreds before you who have asked the same thing. There is no harm in asking on this website, but you will mostly get theories and conjectures from other Pre-Opts. Call the schools, tell them your situation and ask for advice.

Your real question should be about whether or not you will be invited for an interview, not accepted into the school, because the interview is what really matters.
