When should/can I apply?

OK, so I am new, new, new to the whole dental school thing. I just decided a few weeks ago this is the route I'm going to take. With that being said, here is where I am at:

Going to finish my ugrad in about 6 months. I'll graduate with a 3.3 overall GPA and I have not taken any of my prerequisites yet (business major). I will start my prereqs in May of 2013 and will be 1 o chem class away from being done with my prereqs in May of 2014.

My question is, should I/ can I apply in May of 2014, even though I won't be done with my o chem II class? And then there's the DAT! Should I wait to take the DAT until I'm completely done with prereqs or take it before May of 2014 so I can include it with apps? I've heard its a good idea to wait until after you're done with prereqs and then take right after while its "fresh". Just looking for a little advice or personal experience. I'm a little long in the tooth and would like to get into school by 2015, but just not sure if I can make it. Advice please! Thanks in advance to your replies!!

Well I think you should be done with your prereqs before you apply...as credits from those classes are caculated as your BCP-GPA...it's a good idea to take DAT when you are done with all pre req classes ...and you can submit your application in june 2014 and still take DAT during that summer after submission ...the schools won't look at your application until its complete (DAT scores) but atleast you will have a peace of mind that it's done...also start working on your personal statement and squeeze in some time for dental shadowing and Denstistry related extra curricular activies.

I am assuming you are taking OCHEM II during the summer of 2014? I would suggest you rearrange your schedule so that you are taking physics 2 during the summer. It is not on the DAT, so you could study for the DAT during summer 2014 with all the prereqs done that are being tested.
