Hi Everyone
Since i am a canadian applying to U.S dental schools, i don't know the entire process so your input would be much appreciated.
My question is, ill be starting a 1 year masters program in September 2016 to strengthen my application for the states. To enroll for September 2017, do i apply in June 2016 and interview in September 2016? Wouldn't that cost me a year because im doing a masters? Can they make a decision while I'm doing my masters and take my masters into consideration?
Thank you

Assuming that you would finish by May 2017

Assuming that you would finish your 1 year masters program by May-June 2017, you should apply in June 2016 for 2017 admission to dental school. You wouldn't lose a year. If you apply after you finish your masters (summer 2017) then you will have a gap year until admission in 2018.

You would have to apply in the summer of 2016 to enroll in the fall of 2017. Otherwise, if you want your master's grades to be considered, you need to take at least one gap year.

Ahh dammit. Cant they put my admissions on hold till i finish my masters and make a final decision after that?

Assuming you finish in a spring semester like everyone else, you're wanting them to hold off until May? Acceptances start to go out on Dec 1.

I personally did a two year Masters in one year and applied as I was finishing it up. It gave me a gap year, but ad coms could see my graduate school grades and it gave me a year to save up money.
