Just a curious question. I wanna apply to med school during summer 2015. So that I can enroll in 2016 right after college. I really want to get in on my first shot, but my part time jobs money is used for tuition and other bills.

This is just a curious question, because I am wondering if this has something to do with tax returns, whether I would have to file tax returns with a spouse or something. Or can I just get married a couple months before applying to med schools and be eligible for the fee waiver? Assuming the total income is under 15k or whatever. Or do I have to get married like a year before to do the taxes and stuff? Some other poster made a thread about FAP and taxes, so I am curious. Let me know, thanks

I don't know the answer, but just popping in here to say I hope this isn't your main reason to get married.

I'm pretty sure that FAP makes you pull up your parents tax information as well. I know this doesn't answer your question about marriage or anything, but if your parents make more than the federal poverty line, then you wouldn't have to consider any of this.

As for applying to FAP, they take into account your tax information from the year prior to the one that you're applying. So if you're getting married a couple months before applying to medical school, the information required from your spouse and you combined wouldn't be factored in. (This is to the best of my knowledge.. take it with a grain of salt. I forgot how I did it and my situation is/was different from yours)

Oh look, Streampaw now is trolling the DO forum.

Oh, this is about taxes...too much reddit is never a good thing.

No, if you have a fafsa efc of zero, you get fap. No needed for additional parental income.

Not true. They asked me for my parent info even though my fafsa efc was zero for the past 4 years.

on the other hand, fee assistance for aacomas accepts fafsa and doesn't require parent info.

i guess i should've considered which forum i'm posting in. forgot i'm in the osteopathic forum!

I'm sorry. You're right. FAP is the AMCAS service. I was thinking of the DO version.
