I'm a Canadian medical student and a Canadian citizen however I am thinking of writing the Step 1. When should I be registering for the Step 1 if i'm currently thinking of writing it in August 2016. I believe I am supposed to register through the NBME.

I'm still not sure if I want to write it in August or in December 2016. I know that there is a 3 months period of eligibility once you register which is why I have delayed registering so far, however I don't want it to be too late to register for the August sitting.

Last thing, if I have the First Aid 2013 edition, is it still worth switching to the 2016 edition?

You have got some time..just take an NBME and see where your at. See how your pace is as the months go by and kind of extrapolate where you will be at the end of the year and book a date accordingly.

FA edition, everybody on here will say get the errata and use the latest version of the book. I personally don't think it matters because your using the material as content, you check how well your ability to apply info is via UWorld, which is always up to date. It's your call.

Thanks, do you know where I can find an NBME? Is this something I have to pay for or is it free? Thanks for the response, when is the latest I would have to register for if I wanted to write the test in August?
