Hello!

I'm currently a junior, and since I'm at home this year due to the pandemic and I'll have finished my prereqs by this summer, I thought it'd be the perfect time to take the MCAT. However, I would like to take two gap years to include my first gap year experience on my application. I am unsure about taking the MCAT next summer because I'm not sure when my gap year experience would begin and like I said before, this summer presents a good opportunity to study and do well on the exam (hopefully). Should I take it this summer, or wait until next summer so my score stays valid in case I need to apply again?

TLDR: If I take the MCAT summer 2021, will it be valid for matriculation in fall 2024? Or should I take the MCAT later/apply earlier and defer if I get in?

MCAT scores are valid for three years. Also, 60% of applicants every year don't receive an MD admission, and I've seen applicants with 520+, 3.8+ receiving zero interview invites and preparing for their reapplication cycle this year. Considering you might have to reapply, I would take it after your senior year.

Just keep reviewing the concepts. Make flashcards with Anki and use them everyday to keep your memory fresh.
