I am currently an sophomore in undergrad and I was wondering when should I take the DAT. I know that junior year is the time I have to apply but I would like to get an idea on when I should take this exam. Thanks in advance

It takes up to a month for your score to be posted on AADSAS, so anytime before that AADSAS opens is definitely good.
I personally took it August this cycle and still got interview invites. Take it when you are ready. No point rushing if you aren't.

definitely I would recommend the summer of your sophomore-junior year that way you can apply to schools next summer and submit everything early for school that do rolling admission. Also you can retake it if you do not do as well, where as you dont get that leeway for the summer after.

thanks thats a great idea I will take it this coming summer. I become a junior during this spring semester so it works. Also I will be able to retake if needed and if not i'll be free and I can focus on finishing prereqs. thanks

I took my DAT this passed August (I'm currently a junior) and it was the BEST DECISION I ever made. I had just come out of ochem, so that was really fresh. I had the whole summer to devote to it which really helped. Taking it before your junior year allows you to have time to retake if necessary, and if you do well then you have a HUGE weight off your shoulders. I got a 24AA and 24 TS, so my junior year is so much more relaxed! All I have to do now is wait for applications! haha

But for sure, DEFINITELY take it this upcoming summer after you finish soph year!

I'm currently a sophomore too, and my plan of attack is to spend the upcoming summer preparing for the DAT and take it late August/early September. This way I can focus my Junior year entirely on my application. Plus I will of just taken the ochem series so it should be easier to study since it'll be fresh on my mind. There is no way I could study for the DAT while taking classes. I want to be able to devote my entire brain and life to it for those few months, lol.

Good luck!!!!

Good plan Taylor. This is what I recommend for other people as well.
