I'm an IMG in my final year of med school.
I had a question concerning timing of my step 2 exam.
I have read somewhere that it is advisable, if not mandatory, to take the step 2 exam before graduation.
Now, if I understood correctly, this is in order to get a match right after graduation. Am I correct?
The thing is...I have to complete a mandatory 2 year military service back in my country after graduation, so I won't be able to put in the application for match right after graduation anyway.
In this case, is it still necessary for me to take step 2 before graduation?
I mean, what is the reasoning behind this recommendation to take the step 2 before graduation?
Would someone be kind enough to explain this to me please?
