Hi guys, first off, I just want to say GOOD LUCK to everyone applying fthis year. I have been on this board for almost 2 yrs doing my research and now is my time to apply. To be honest, I am one of your lower level GPA applicants. That is the only thing that will hold me back. I am still finishing up 4 more pre-req's at a local JC and I have no doubts I will get A's in most of them, which will boost my GPA. (UC Davis was so harsh 🙁 )

Anyways, I am applying this year with a not so stellar GPA only to see if I can get an invite. I spread my choices out through out the US (I am from CA of course) and I just hope that one school will see pass the GPA and send me an invite for an interview. I believe once I get that interview, I can show them I am worth their selection.

Anyways, enough about me. I am just curious AROUND what time do you start to say to yourself "Nice try this year but no luck. Get ready to prepare to apply again next year."

I mean, I know schools have different time schedules as some already accepted half their class while some haven't even had their deadlines yet.
But I have a feeling there has got to be a time (or a certain month) where if you do not get an interview, it's over.

I have been done with all of my app's (all 16 or so) for about 3 weeks now. I have received one rejection letter for Palm Beach Atlantic (that was quick).

But I haven't heard anything from anywhere else. When should I get worried? My parents are starting to ask questions. hehehe.

Again, good luck to everyone. The PCAT sucked, and pharmcas sucked, and so did getting the letters of rec forms for EVERY school.

When I got rolled over into regular decision at the only school I applied to, I sort of resolved myself for a next year shot at it. Hopefully, I still have a very good chance at getting in but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Do you have a job currently? Just have a backup plan of working there for a year if you don't get in. That can be the response to your parent's questions

At the UF open house, they told us that they have called people the first day of class to say, you have a spot. So I would guess that it is a maybe until you get a no, but any of you who have been through this already, please correct me if I am wrong.

good question...

If it is not too personal a question, could you list your stats? What was your overall GPA, science GPA, PCAT, etc. I think it would help. I am one with a lower GPA as well, but I have only started taking my science classes so I am hoping to have atleast a high Science/math GPA.

My apologies if I get off on a tangent here...

My GPA wasn't stellar, but I backed it up with EC activities and involvement wthin the community. I took on leadership roles that benefitted me as an individual. As corny as it may sound, I learned a lot about myself as well as other by getting out and being involved. Pharmacy schools like seeing individuals who are involved with things other than school. I'd also volunteered a fair amount in a pharmacy, so that helped out.

I applied 2 years ago and then again this last year. First year, I didn't get a single interview, but then the 2nd year, I was invited to two interviews (both were California schools). As for rejection letters, I received them throughout the Fall/Winter. I got my UCSF in I think in Dec/Jan and other rejection letters Jan-March.

I have heard the same sort of story from Ferris State...they also told me that they let a lot of people in just after the deposit refund deadline passes...
