I will be ready to apply in 2010, but I only will have a year of volunteer/research. I plan on applying, but I'm not sure if this is enough experience. Is it better to go for it and then reapply if I don't get in, or should I wait another year to have a better app? I just heard that there is a stigma against a reapplicant. Anyone know if this is really the case?

There's a stigma against reapplicants if you don't improve your application. Yes, if you keep applying with the same application, then you will continue to not get in, and you'll be looked down upon. If you improve, some schools will see it as a good thing.

We don't like being reapplicants because this process is tough enough just trying to make it through once. Having to do it again is draining. That's why everyone here says to do it right the first time.

Go ahead and apply broadly. Like the previous poster said there is only stigma against reapplicants when they have made no improvements to their application.
