Dear SDN,
I got accepted and will be starting at an SMP late August. I have filled out FAFSA and asked the school how much they have students receive through federal and Grad Plus loans; she told me 38k. Its 20k for tuition which leaves around 18k for cost of living. This is below what I was anticipating and there is no way that 18k will cover everything. So I am looking into private loans and considering Sallie mae (used them for undergrad). My question is, when should I start applying for these loans and how difficult will it be for me to acquire them (just in general, is a cosigner usually needed)?
Thank you
