Im under the impression that for those who do not have a stellar application, their shot is increased tremendously by applying as early as possible (early June). How significant of a difference will applying early june vs mid-july make for someone with a below average application?

Not that much of a difference. I applied late July and heard back from several schools. Don’t sweat it.

Some schools don't even start looking at apps until late July/August. I think you should plan on having everything, including DAT, submitted by August and you'll be fine.
