When to apply...?

Okay, I am taking pre-calc this semester, and medical terminology and pharmacology this semester, then like two classes I need to graduate with my current degrees (History & Political Science). I was wondering if I should go ahead and apply this spring even though I haven't taken the MCAT and taken any sciences classes. I am taking a lot of classes this summer (my school offers a lot of science classes in the summer over four different summer sessions) and I should be done with all the premed prereqs by next May. Should I wait to apply until next year, or go ahead and do it this year. Sorry this was lengthy, but I am really not sure, I'd like to only be one year off course, instead of two.

If you plan to take the MCAT in April 2006 or August 2006 the you should apply in June 2006. Otherwise wait for next cycle.

How can you possibly apply this coming spring when you haven't taken any science courses? You'd have to take Bio 1 and 2, Gen Chem 1 and 2, Organic chem 1 and 2, AND Physics 1 and 2 during the 2 month summer session, all while studying for the MCAT and filling out AMCAS.

Granted, you could just take a couple of science courses over the summer, but then you'd be ill prepared for the MCAT in august.

Your trying to cram 2 years of work into 3 months.

I'm sure there are a handful of people who could actually pull it off. But, its not worth the time, money, and risk of doing poorly.

Take the extra year and focus on your goal, one step at a time. I wish you the best of luck!

2) How does one go about updating their application with summer classes or August MCAT?

I plan on taking Organic I/II in the fall and spring of next year, I think I can take Bio I/II, Chem I/II, some Physics, and Anatomy this summer.

wow..i took precalc when i was a junior in highschool!!! anyways..apply the year before you graduate...

you have to take precalc in college, here, before you can take any other science class it blows, i've had 9 hours of math and i have to take this one to get into chemistry in the spring.

I have 12 credits in Spring 2006 (est. gpa 3.1), 14 credits in summer (I won’t burn out)(est. gpa 3.4), 15 credits in Fall 2006 (est. gpa 3.5) and 14 credits in Spring 2007. Then I’m done with undergrad. I’d like to attend Summer 2007 @ MSUCOM. I know I have to have my completed application to AACOM by Dec 1 and Offically transcripts by Dec 15. Any help would be appreciated…

Yes around there. If you are active in the SDN pre-ost/pre-allo forums someone will usually post when it is up or you'll see a ton of posts on how to fill out the apps.

2) How does one go about updating their application with summer classes or August MCAT?
-you enter all of your info into the application. You even list courses you plan to take in the future before matriculating.You note if classes are completed, in progress, will take later.
-you submit all transcripts to AACOMAS/AMCAS
-you submit you application for verification.

They will only use courses you mark completed and in preogress on your application for your GPA. The only thing that can be updated is address, schools you want to send your application to, and your MCAT score.

-when you get your MCAT score. You log into THx(AAMC Testing history website) and have them release your scores to AAMC schools, osteopathic schools and other programs.
