Hey guys, ive been perusing through these forums for some time, and have found, through reputation and in my own personal experience, that this site is one of the best around. Now, I am currently an undergrad senior at a selective, well known competitive private university. I have a 3.2 overall GPA with a science GPA hovering around 3.0. This semester (my last one ironically) was my most productive one after finally getting my act togehter, and not having to work 3 jobs (one of the reasons why my grades have been subpar). I almost made it to senior speaker at graduation, holding a 4.0 right now, and won a slew of awards this year, something i hope that adcoms can see as i apply- improvement and a strong academic record towards the more mature years of being a student. I have finihsed applying (i know its late but i took the april mcats and most of my apps are in, all im waiting upon is for the pre-health committee recoemmdnation to be written and april mcat score release), to georgetown's SMP, BU, upenn, drexel's IMP (which i heard is the best one since ALL classes are with med students, perhaps i can get your input), loyola, barry, umdmj, university cincincatti, cvu, amongst a few others (i am a little insecure about my future hence the bulk of applciations).

What i would like to know is, if i am granted admission to one of those programs (and i probably wont know until july or so), would it be adviseable to start applying to the new amcas application that is being released next week in may for amcas 2007? Or should i complete the program, then send the amcas for 2008 and find somehting to do for the glide year? I was told by the SMP to start applying this summer, but it makes no sense if i wont have grades to support my application from SMP's. Any ideas guys?

By the way, i expect mcat scores to be at least 30 to mid 30's. I also have lengthy research experience, and worked at the Mayo Clinic at Cardiac Surgery last summer as a surgical research fellow. Anyways, sorry to bog you guys down, im just a little worried that I wont be going anywhere in the next few years. With everyeone around me finding secured jobs, or law schools, or med schools that they will be heading to, suddenly my confidence is not nearly as high as it used to be. After reading some of the inspiraitonal stories I heard through these boards, about having extremely low GPAs and still garnering acceptances, my confidence is starting to rise again.

Also, are there any other SMPs or any other types of programs you guys recommend that isnt on the aamc site? Ones that are like teh SMP, ones that have linkage programs through the post bac, etc. :scared:
