I am planning on applying for the 2008 cycle. I was going to get LORs from some of the professors and send it to AADSAS as and when I complete the course. But looks like I cannot have LORs for 2008 cycle sent to AADSAS until May 2007. How do you handle this?

I want to avoid having to chase down profs for LORs for courses I had completed a while back.

Sometimes chasing down professors can't be avoided. There are some people who have gone back to get LORs after many years since graduating. Having finished the course after only a year is not that long.

Have you heard of using Interfolio (www.interfolio.com)? It's an online resume database, and if you buy a one year account (for $15), you can store all your recs there for a year (or extend your account with an extra fee), and send them in to AADSAS in May 2007. I used it in the 2006 cycle, and I liked the flexibility of being able to get my professors to write and submit recs early, and sending it as one package to AADSAS once the application opened up.

Check if your school has a LOR holding service. This worked well for me, I gave all of my evaluators my info packet on about the 7th of February and set a date of April 21 for them to have it done by. This helped to ensure that there would be no running around in May. Once AADSAS opened for the year I printed out the matching forms, bought an express mail envelope, gave the forms and envelope to the holding service and they sent them out nicely bundled together the next day.

A lot of schools have a letter holding service in their career centers. If that doesn't work, I would still go tell the professor that you plan to ask them for a letter of recommendation. Let them know the situation and that you will have to come back again once the application cycle opens so you have a place for them to send it...but give forewarning so it's not a huge surprise if you show up a year later.
