So I'm starting to get a little paranoid with the frenzy everyone is in now that we can actually start sending out ERAS. My original goal was to send my CAF, PS, and USMLE out by the 15th. I'm waiting to meet next week with one of the pathology attendings to go over my PS and I dont' want to send my PS without his input. Should I certify my CAF now and send it out, just to get my name and scores out? Or do programs prefer if things are sent "packaged" and not piece by piece. I'm still waiting on all my LOR, but I'm not going to delay my application for those. What do you think?

They don't care. They retrieve it all as it comes in anyway. I would wager no more than 10% of applicants actually have all their LORs ready as september begins anyway. LOR writers are slow. Submitting any time in september is pretty much equivalent, whether you submit week one or week two doesn't really matter. I would send out the stuff you have control of (PS, scores, etc) as soon as you can though. Can't hurt.

Music to my ears. Still haven't sent it in. I'm all neurotic and proofreading my CV and PS repeatedly. I'll probably send it in this Saturday after I go watch the Meeeeeechigan football season opener.

Haha! My sentiments exactly.

This was how the decision was made -

At 2359hrs Sept 1, I reviewed my profile and CAF for probably the 25th time only. I checked off the box, clicked the radio button, took a deep breath and clicked "Submit".

The thing asked me if I was sure.

I cancelled.

I reviewed profile + CAF for the 26th time, waffled on whether or not to certify, and decided to check out what the SDNPath posters had to say.

I couldn't load the forum.

I said "F*** it I'm going to bed", certified, submitted, and turned off the computer.

And even if you do have them ready by August, they will not yet have arrived at the Post-Office come September.

But it probably has to do with email (or whatever electronic transmission) from Canada being so much slower than from the rest of the US.
