if you're trying to get to the airport right after your interviews, when do you change out of your suit into more comfortable clothes? i'd rather not change at the med school. anyone have experience with this/suggestions?

I've actually done this after my last two interviews. I've been a total mess at them in most regards. I stayed with med students the night before. They said that they couldn't be back at their room before I would have to leave, so I couldn't leave my bags there. Thus, I would walk into the admissions office looking like a pack mule in a suit (I was carrying a suitcase, briefcase, backpack, garment bag, and a sleeping bag). The secretaries in the offices were very nice about it as they had seen the same thing many times before and readily showed me where I could place my bags. After my interviews and the tours and stuff, I didn't see any problem changing back in to street clothes. The interviewers were away in their own departments and offices, so I didn't have to worry about bumping in to them that much. And the admissions staff were usually pretty cool, they knew the drill pretty well and didn't seem to mind. So unless you interviewed with the dean of admissions and you were going to run into him again before you left, I don't think there'd be a problem with changing.

How about going to a nearby deparment store or something and changing in the fitting rooms?

I'm sure that won't raise any suspicion - walk into a fitting room wearing one type of clothing, and walk out wearing another type of clothing (esp when you look like a pack mule)

I'm sure you can change in the bathroom at the med school. Even if you run into the interviewers, I doubt they would mind if you changed out of your suit. As long as you wore a suit during the interview =)

Yeah that's a great idea... if you want clerks chasing after you because they think you're stealing their merchandise

What's wrong with changing in the airport? Or in the car if you drove?

I had two interviews already -- just changed in the bathroom at the med school. Very easy.

what if you were interviewing with the dean of admissions and didn't want to run into him in your street clothes? change at the airport?

best if done during your interview, with a rhythm machine turned to "andante" 😀

hey, we're all not some sleezy agent. we all leap tall buildings in a single bound.

but i'm not seeing why there's problem with the school dean or anyone else from that day seeing you in street clothes. unless you plan on taking your wig off and putting the nose ring back on which is chained to your nipple rings...

I changed from my suit into my street clothes right after my last interview of the day. In retrospect, that wasn't such a good idea. The look on my interviewer's face was priceless.

Just my .02. I would not change at the medical school. Would you go to a Fortune 500 company, interview for an Upper Level Management position, and then go into one of their bathrooms and change?

Ensure that the last thought that you leave them with is that of a professional, or someone who can be a professional. Bumping into an interviewer, or a dean while dressed in your civies right after an interview is not a surefire way to do that. Will changing in the bathroom lessen your chances? Probably not, but why chance it? While you're on their turf, give them every reason to see you as a mature and professional individual.

my car was parked outside the apartment building where my med student hosts lived and i took my clothes off in the parking lot crouching behind the dumpster
