When to give up on SLOR?

I was just wondering how long I should wait for a SLOR before giving up on it and submitting a different one. I have one from an attending that is in ERAS but I am waiting on one from a PD that I am hoping will be stronger. When do most programs stop downloading SLORs?

Every time we open ERAS, we download.

The real questions are:
1. When do we make a decision on a particular individual?
2. When are we running out of slots, such that much better credentials are required to get an invite.

Unfortunately, the answers are probably individual to the program. All I can tell you is that I tend to decide on the top and the bottom candidates quickly and the middle tends to take longer. Once I've made a decision on an application, I rarely go back to it, since I've have hundreds of others to clear. I guess what I'm saying is that if your app is strong it doesn't matter much and if it's weak get the strongest letter you can as early as you can to avoid the axe.
