I applied a little later than most, about Sept. 12, then to a few more Sept. 18, but I got my first interview offer today, so the first thing I wondered is:

Should I do it early or late?

From what I've read, do the less competitive/attractive programs first to get a feel for the process, then your favorites in the middle before you get burnt out by the process. Is this about right?

The only threads I could find on the subject were a few years old and not about Emed in particular, which is what I care about. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

You're logic sounds pretty good to me. Another thing I would consider is to try to book each one as early as possible (unless it's one of your top programs) so that you don't run out of possible interview dates. From what I've seen it looks like programs are sending out invites ~1mo in advance. If you schedule the interviews you're getting now for December instead of Oct/Nov you won't have room in your schedule when you get more interviews later on.

Thanks, Tiger and Rxn.

Good article linked there, thanks. I had heard about that study, but I remembered it was a little dated so I wanted to see if people still felt this way.

I guess I won't worry too much about what order and date I interview, though I probably won't do my top choices in the beginning. I do think I need to get some more under my belt first.

Not that interviews are a vacation, but I'm planning on doing those near ski country closer to ski season when there might be some snow on the ground.
