So I'm actually asking this question for my brother. He is starting to receive interviews (4+) for different schools, but obviously there are the schools he would prefer to go to if he had the choice.

His #1 school offered him an interview, but it's really early (first week of September). This would be his first interview. There are options to move this interview to the last week of September or mid-October.
The interviews for other schools will be in mid September. From what I've been reading I understand that it's not a good idea to interview for your #1 school first as you will have first time jitters and just not be that great at it. At the same time I read that it is better to interview early.

Would it be unwise to move the interview to late September? Is mid-October too late?

Do you mean the other interviews would be in mid-September?

Move the top choice interview to late Sept. It's good to have 1-2 interviews under your belt before a top choice.
