Just wondering if anyone thinks there is an advantage to interview at certain periods than others. Would it be better to interview in Dec or Jan vs Oct or Nov because they maybe more likely to remember you? Or is it better to interview earlier?

I already forgot your question.......

maybe you should interview the day before they make rank lists.

check out the eras thread, there's a query very similar to yours and APD says it doesnt really matter when...heck, where i am now, i will be happy simply to interview. good luck:luck:

Really, you can do that! I think I'm going to try to interview at my first choice school the morning of the rank list date.

Rule of thum for interviews, applications, etc..EARLY

Interviewing early is the thing to do. Difficult though if you are in the middle of rotations or schedule's don't work out. But if you can fit it in early... do it.
Cheers

I've had a tough time trying to decide this too. At this point, I'm just trying to schedule my interviews whenever I have a slot, irrespective of where I think the program ranks on my list. There are still so many programs out there that haven't given their responses yet, it's going to be tough if some of those reach programs finally get in contact on a day that's already booked.

On top of that there's those prelim medicine interviews that need to get done. By the time this winter is through, I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat a cold cut again.

totally agree. prelim + neuro interview's going to be overwhelming, scheduling these interviews is already giving me a headache. the # of free weeks given by our school's limited, and all these out-of-state programs takes 2 days for interview, plus most neuro programs like to interview on either Wed or Fri (the "grand round" day), i don't have that many wed or fri left :scared:

:luck:

I matched last year.

I did Neuro interviews early and if they wanted seperate prelim interviews, I scheduled those in later Dec and Jan so I could cancel them if I became less interestedin their program/tired of interviewing.

I matched at my top choice and top 10 neuro residency with a early december interview; I think it was my 4-5th interview. I definitly was still excited to be interviewing, but not ignorant to the process but not apathetic to the expression, "Do you have any more questyions?" yet.

Just my experience. I probably would have matched anyway regardless of when, but it seemed to hold true to the stereotypical ideal time to interview at your dream program.
