I apologize if this brings up bad memories from previous years =/

But I was wondering, for those people who were on waitlists in the summer and eventually had to reapply, how long did you wait before you submitted your application? I know that you should submit your primary early June with one school so that it can get verified, but I was wondering around what time did you start adding other schools? July? August? Siiiigh this is such a frustrating situation to be in 🙁

I added additional schools in mid-July.

I'm in the same situation, but my concern is that I haven't strengthened my application enough. I've published another paper, have another year volunteering with hospice, started other volunteer opportunities, shadowed more physicians, taken a few extra classes, and retaken the MCAT. But is it enough?! How do you know?

To both you guys, may I ask when you applied the first time? If you are waitlists, did you apply late summer and how many places?

I would submit June 1 and add maybe 5 schools (like your states) just in case the WL doesn't work out. If you don't hear from those schools by mid July, then maybe start adding more schools as if you are a full reapplicant. But obviously don't give up hope on the WLs now...keep sending LOIs/updates/showing the schools you really want to go)....what schools are you guys waitlisted at?

Hey Ronaldo,

I submitted my primary around mid-July last year but i stupidly retook my MCATs in late August so my file wasn't complete until September so I think that really hurt me. I interviewed at five schools: UCSD, Ohio St, Georgetown, Loma Linda, and OHSU. I am currently on four waitlists (Georgetown rejected me). This is such a mysterious process that I don't really know what to expect from the schools that waitlist me so I am trying to keep my options open 😳 thanks for your input!

Sad that I neve thought to submit to a few schools just to get verified and then submit later to the remaining schools if I dont' get off a waitlist  Unfortunately i think AACOMAS actually charges more for submitting after you are verified but I think AMCAS leaves price the same

the conumdrum that is the waitlist/alternate list

ugh....i am in the same shoes here.

i think i am going to apply to amcas now...get that said and done.

not sure about aacomas though

i need to talk to my prog director....i have a feeling he is going to tell me not to do anything becuase i will most likely get off the alternate list....but i can not plan my life and myplans around a *most likely*. i also can not afford to wait until august to even beging to think about applying......

mess....just a mess
