I am a junior right now and I want to apply next summer when they begin taking applications.

I'm a non-traditional student. I am older, married with 2 kids. I've been an RDH for 15+ years.
So far I wrote my personal statement. I just transferred to a 4 year college and am now taking Organic 1 among other bio major courses.

I'm not sure how to time taking the DAT. I want to get my application in during the first round but I'm afraid of not having enough time to study. I'm thinking the Organic chem and Bio will be fresh in my head, so I can concentrate more on the other subjects.
How early do you request LORs? My preferred school prefers a LOR from a pre-health committee.

I will be meeting with the Predent advisor next week so hopefully she can clear things up.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I'd ask for letters around 3 months in advance of when you'd need em (give or take). Some professors are procrastinators, some are slow, etc. so you want to have ample time to get those letters. Also, if you're going to be getting letters through a committee, most committees have a letter storing system in place. This means that you can request letters from professors whenever (like after you finish a class) and it will go to the committee who will hang onto it until it's time to write your overall letter.

AADSAS starts taking apps at the start of June. You'll have to request transcripts, but keep in mind the registrar is slow (and extra slow at that time of year with so many people requesting transcripts for schools and seniors graduating, etc.)

When prepping for the DAT, keep in mind the material is a lot simpler than the material in a college classroom. Taking it in June will allow you to retake it later if you need to. That said, if you can squeeze all the studying you need to and take it before June, all the power to you. Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions!

Thanks for the advice.

I was going to put off physics for my senior year but I think it would look better to get at least Physics 1 in by the time I apply. I'm not sure how it will all work out.

I believe schools just want all pre-reqs done by the time you matriculate so you could take the classes you need during your app year
