I am a junior in my spring semester. Im really confused on this whole process.

When should I start requesting for LORs? My school has the committee letter where I can submit all the LORs in the health office and they send it to the schools. Also, how many do I need for each area? (really confused about this)

Some people told me to start on my PS now others told me to wait till after I take my DAT in march. When should I start writing my PS and what should I include. I searched the forum and they all basically say write about why I want to be a dentist. Can someone expand on that a little more.

Thanks for your help!!!!!!

its never too early to start and you can never have too many letters. At my school we are required to start a pre-dent folder very early in the freshman year. Then before we can have a mock interview our junior year it must be complete with all requirements met. As far as letters I had a calculus teacher, 3 Bio professors, 1 business professor, 1 volunteer letter, 1 employment reference, 1 personal reference, ... maybe im forgetting some, then came the committee letter. If you build a relationship with someone, ask them to write a letter and then it can be referenced when the committee writes their letter.

My personal statement started with a funny, catchy story about a childhood experience related to dentistry. Then I talked about why I want to be a dentist and some of the things ive done in my life to strengthen my character and to show my drive to accomplishing my goals.

I hope this helps ... PM if you have additional questions.
