So I'm currently in ms1 and i've read a lot about when to study for step 1 but I still have many questions! A lot of people say they started in year 2, and obviously hit it hard during dedicated time. My question is, if you start in year 2, where do you even start? Do you do practice questions because it's high yield material, even though you haven't learned a lot of the material yet? Do you parallel your classroom material with your first aid book? And last question, does just straight up classroom work from ms1/ms2 prepare you for the in depth questions on step 1 to even be able to answer practice questions yet?

Thanks for any responses!

Early is better than later for a test you can only take once, but the specifics will depend on your goal score and how much effort you're willing to invest. Go through other peoples experiences and build your own study plan.

I agree, get your First Aid book and start annotating whatever you learn in your ms 1 class. Also, pay attention to the changes/updates made in the new FA book next year. Those are all high yield.

The earlier the better. The hardest part is getting started since there are no many resources, varying advice online. Once you go through a few resources, you will realize what works best for you. Good Luck!
