Posting this for a friend...he took MCAT once, taking it again June 18 I think...score is 27P for now, wondering if he should submit AMCAS June 1 and just say that he's taking the June MCAT, or should he wait until he gets score back in mid-July? He doesn't want schools to throw out app. due to low score when he thinks he could do better on the June test...so question is, will schools just hold off on secondaries until they get the second score, or will schools just base it on first score?...any advice is appreciated, thanks

The truth is, most schools will wait for the second score, but some won't. You don't want to waste your money if there's a chance you won't improve your score, but you don't want to put yourself behind either. What kind of practice scores are we talking?

i think he said practice scores between 30-33 so far...pretty good even if he can hit that low end...but who knows how real tests are, i know my score dropped from practice...

If you're concerned about a less-than-stellar score, you may consider this idea. Some people will submit their application listing only one school so they can get the verification process going. Then when they get a look at their scores, they'll add the rest of the schools. That way you can prevent the possibility of spending tons of money only to find out that once again your scores aren't competitive.

alright cool, i'll suggest the one school verification thing...personally, im taking a year off and i dont think its a big deal, but i have a feeling he's gonna want to do the shotgun method and hope one school comes through...thansk for all the advice, and the quick replies
