when to take DAT

Hi guys,

i am planning on applying for the 06 cycle on mid may and am currently studying for the dat. i have finals on mid june, so when is the best time to take the dat? when should i take the dat so that i won't be too late...should i take it end of june, mid july, or end of july? btw my gpa is around 3.1-3.2.

send in your application as soon as possible. then take the DAT at the end of july. i would use the second half of june and the whole month of july to study the DAT and only the DAT. Take a week off after your finals so you're not too tired to study for the DAT. GOOD LUCK!!

1. Go to your Supermarket.

2. Grab a bottle of Metamucil.

I applied at the beginning of June, took the DAT in the beginning of August, and had all my interviews (that I really wanted) during the fall semester. Take the DAT when you are ready, I was going to take it in July but didn't feel prepared, so I studied a couple more weeks and took it in August...I don't recommend you take it any later than that though in case you have to take it again.

So as long as I send in my application early including LORs, GPA and such.... I can take the DAT in Aug? Would that be considered "applying early?"

Right now i'm a sophmore. I'm planning to take my first DAT next april ( spring of my junior year) Then if i need to take the DAT again.. i'll be taking it in Aug. The catch is.. i haven't taken orgo I and II yet. I'll be take that this fall and spring... so by the time i take the DAT in april.. i think i might be set. I'm planning to study for the DAT this summer.

Oh yeah.. i'm wondering if taking the kaplan course is worth it. I'm planning on saving up some money this summer and take it next summer before I take my 2nd DAT in August. haha sorry for taking up this thread. I'd appreciate some advice tho!

yea man im in the same situation as you in terms of GPA and DAT date. but im thinking of taking them in late may.

i don't understand why people take the DAT after they apply. why not just take the DAT in may or june and apply then instead of applying, then taking the DAT in july or august? i'm thinking about taking the DAT this summer even though i won't be applying until the 2007 cycle.

Hey, why are you bulsanghae? hehe... anywayz, I took the Kaplan classroom course last summer and I'd say generally, it was worth it. Honestly, the classroom lessons didn't help because the lesson comes straight from the book, meaning you could study it on your own. And for the most part, it's familiar material so it's not like you need someone to teach it to you. However, their books as well as other additional resources at the Kaplan center were very helpful.

duh, b/c it takes your app 6 weeks but your dat scores can be faxed the same day.

right?

so why bother taking it before July?
