When to take DAT??

I'm hoping to get into one of the California schools. Of course, I'll be applying to out-of-state schools too, but would it be so bad if I took the DAT some time in August or September, but turn in my application June 1st??? How long does it normally take for DAT scores to be distributed to the schools?? I just don't feel ready at all for this test.....

I've been told to take it before the end of July. That way if you have to retake it you can still do it pretty early in the interview season. I believe there is a 90 day wait to retake?? That figure may be wrong, but there is some number you have to wait. I'm sure someone here will let you know! Good luck!!!

Does that mean you can submit the DAT score long after registering for AADSAS? By saying "long" I mean before deadline for schools end..

i didn't apply to any cali schools but the earliest most schools review apps are in aug/sept. you want your packet complete whenever your school begins looking at apps. Call the school and ask someone when they begin the review process, and take the dat at least 4-5 weeks b/f. It takes about that long for the official report to get there, even though they can download the scores the next day.

August is probably the latest. If your scores are low and everything else in your app looks good, some schools will ask you to retake the DAT and resubmit your new scores.

However, I do have friends that took the DAT in September and received acceptances.

most schools wont consider your app complete and review it until they receive your official DAT's.
