When to take MCAT and apply?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Your GPA is great. Your ECs are coming along nicely. Even working in a sushy bar helps you, as you gain people skills that way.

I think you really need both semesters of Physics before taking the MCAT. There is little OChem II on the test though. If you want to audit for a review, I'd do OChem I instead.

Unless this study abroad is very, very important to you, I'd consider canceling or rescheduling it so you can finish Physics on track to take the MCAT on time (because not having a glide year was important to me). What if the grading system is rigid and it destroys your GPA. This happened to another SDN poster. Worst case scenario isn't that bad though, if you have to wait another year to apply. The extra time will let you travel more, make some money, and get in some other experiences you'll never again have time for.

Since calc-based physics isn't required to do well on the MCAT, I don't think it matters so much if you take Physics II near home over the summer at a CC. What about taking Physics I this summer (and work fewer hours), and Physics II next spring? You'd have most of it under your belt in time to take the April MCAT.
