I'm currently a sophomore. It's always been my plan to take a gap before med school. I obviously know I have to apply after senior year, but when should I take the MCAT. I always saw taking it after senior year (in my case) to be the norm. Any pros to taking it in the january before I apply or even the summer after junior year? I would be taking OChem 2 spring, junior year.

I did it after the gap year though tech now I am taking two since I won't matriculate until next Aug.

If you're applying as soon as your senior year ends, I'd take the MCAT spring of that year. You can, if you've taken the necessary prerequisites, take it the summer after your junior year. Assuming you're not taking any classes, you'll be able to focus all your energy on MCAT prep.

Epc11, you seem like a nice underclassman/woman. I would love to help you and give you my honest opinion; however, I will get flamed by other posters. I have officially retired from MCAT threads. God bless, and I wish you the best in life...

I'm a senior who will be taking a gap year, and I'm planning on taking the MCAT early next year (probably March).
